The month before the move
After lots of talking, thinking and some writing about it last year, it's finally happening. I wrapped up at Doccla last week, the flat is half in boxes, and it's properly in motion. We're going.
There's a difference between planning a move and actually living it. The next month is that gap, and I do enjoy the period between jobs, as it's a great time to reset, reflect, and get things in order before the next chapter.
What's happening
I just got back from a wedding in Italy, which was a lovely time seeing friends before the big move. We are now firmly in the final stretch of packing. A near decade of stuff from Cardiff and London combined, going into boxes and a storage container.
Once the keys are handed back, we're doing a road trip through the US to allow us to decompress and have one last adventure before the big move.
What's rattling around in my head
- We've thrown a lot of stuff out. Oddly satisfying. There's a joy in looking at something you've kept for five years and finally admitting you're never going to use it.
- I've pretty much bought a new wardrobe for SG, there's only so far t-shirts and sport shorts can take you I now realise at 32.
- I've been loving an app called Lapse. It takes these great film-emulated photos that have a quality to them I really like, no editing required either so win win.
- I've moved all my notes over to Obsidian via Claude.
- Italian coffee is awful. I will die on this hill.
- I've been swimming a lot and making the most of my gym membership before it ends.
- I will miss riding a scooter through London on a sunny crisp day, nothing beats it.
- I've been listening to the Winston Churchill audiobook and learning about world religions. Neither are related to anything practical.
- I'll be picking up freelance work for UK clients during the transition. The LTVP process means there's a gap before I can work locally in Singapore, so keeping a few projects ticking over makes sense.

Not much more to say at the moment really. Continuing to watch Anthropic announce product after product and realise it's slowly coming for everyone's lunch... but hey ho.
Also unrelated but I find I tend to go through phases of listening to Podcasts/Audiobooks/Music and I can feel a music phase coming on, so here's what's on repeat right now.
